Diagnostic Features
Broadly ovate to elliptical leaf, unlobed. Base is truncated to shallowly cordate. Palmate primary veins. Semicraspedodromous venation, small rounded teeth on margin. Petioles are long and slender, typically at least 4cm in length.

There is some dispute as to whether these leaves represent Cercidiphyllum or Joffrea. Joffrea fruits are reasonably common at Republic, while there have been only one or two fruits found that may be attributable to Cercidiphyllum.
